For our CDPAP patients, we’ve listed the best cardiologists in New York City who diagnose and treat a wide range of heart health issues and who accept Medicaid.
What Do Cardiologists Do?
Cardiologists are medical doctors who specialize in the treatment of the cardiovascular system, including the heart and blood vessels. They are qualified to treat conditions such as:
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Heart valve disease
- Arrhythmia
- High blood pressure.
In order to make a diagnosis, cardiologists use electrocardiograms (EKG), blood tests, and exercise stress tests. They may prescribe medication and recommend lifestyle changes when it comes to diet, exercise, reducing stress levels, and managing weight. In addition, cardiologists perform surgical procedures, including implanting a pacemaker and inserting a cardiac catheter.
